GameRants is my latest website, a little window to the www and a place for me to gather my thoughts and opinions about anything related to video games and the vast industry they have realised. I’m a gamer, a guy not unlike you, aside from the fact I enjoy researching, discussing and writing about video games almost (?) as much as I do playing them.

In the past, I run Mod HQ, a news outlet for the mod communities of games like “Unreal Tournament 2004″, “Doom 3″, “Battlefield 2″, and eventually – with the name changed to Steam Lab – dedicated to Source Engine based projects. Before its untimely death, in May of 2008, I got to experience what I consider the highlights of my early career; a pair of exclusive interviews with Valve Software and the legendary – but now absorbed by MumboJumbo – Ritual Entertainment.

You can find some of these articles  duplicated in the History section for, well, historic purposes. I also did some work for GameSpy’s Planet Half-Life, for the defunct Amped DX, and I even run Jolt’s Half-Life 2 section for a while, though none of those places hold a place to my heart as big and dear as Mod HQ does.

This sums up my early writing endeavours until May 2007, when I finally had to engage my army service, which sent me all the way to Cyprus for a full, long year, but that’s a story for another time and place.

Since my return, and after taking 6 months to work for the Greek government’s IRS, I’ve been spending my time getting back up to date with the industry while doing some freelance work for the lucky (?) owners of places like TheGameReviews and GameCyte. At the same time, I’m trying to gather the resources and will to create a new website, presentable enough to both be a professional portfolio, as well as an ongoing and evolving video game journalism outlet of its own. Perhaps GameRants is, or will be, it.
